Meet the Dentist
Edwin Porter, DDS is a native to the Charlotte area and one of the leading cosmetic and general dentists in the state. Dr. Porter received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1994 from the University of Chapel Hill and was awarded one of the highest honors for Outstanding Achievement in Operative Dentistry. After being nominated by the faculty of the UNC School of Dentistry, Dr. Porter was given the honor to represent the UNC Dental School at the Advanced Training Seminar hosted by Dr. Gordon Christenson.For the past fifteen years, Dr. Porter has provided exceptional dental care to his patients at his practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. With the philosophy that dentistry is a partnership, Dr. Porter educates his patients on good oral hygiene while allowing them to achieve optimal dental health. He believes that improving patient’s smiles through conservative, cosmetic dental techniques has a positive impact on their overall appearance and self confidence. At our new state-of-the-art office, Dr. Porter is surrounded by his staff which is completely dedicated to the comfort, well-being, and total satisfaction of every patient who comes to our office. His advanced training in aesthetic and restorative dentistry has put his practice in the forefront of technology. Dr. Porter has furthered his expertise in dentistry through extensive post-graduate work at the nation’s most elite programs. He has completed all levels at the world renowned Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. In 2001, after completing 500 approved dental continuing education hours and passing a comprehensive examination, Dr. Porter earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. There are only eight other dentists that are Fellows in the Academy practicing in the Charlotte area. In accordance with his philosophy on the importance of continuing dental education, Dr. Porter has published several articles in distinguished dental journals and lectured to his dental colleagues. He enjoys being able to share with his peers his acquired dental knowledge through lecture and articles. Outside of work, Dr. Porter enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. His interests include running and cycling. He has cycled in the MS 150 Race for the past four years and has also run a marathon.
